Difference between local and domain user accounts in a Windows environment?

Local user accounts are specific to a single computer or device within a Windows environment. They are created and managed on that individual system, and their permissions and access rights apply only to the local machine. This type of account is suitable for standalone systems or when you need to provide limited access to users without granting them broader network privileges.

Domain user accounts are centrally managed by a domain controller using Active Directory. These accounts grant users access to multiple resources across the entire network based on their assigned permissions and group memberships.

Domain user accounts simplify administration tasks, as they allow IT administrators to manage user credentials, security policies, and access rights from a central location, ensuring consistency and ease of management throughout the organization.
