What is the purpose of adding security levels to interfaces on Cisco ASA?

By default, all interfaces on a Cisco ASA have a security level of 0.

This means that any traffic passing through the interface is considered untrusted.

In order to better secure the ASA, you can add security levels to interfaces.

This will restrict traffic passing through the interface to only traffic that is considered trusted.
