What are the different types of firewalls?

There are several different types of firewalls, but the most common are network firewalls, application firewalls, and host-based firewalls. 

• Network firewalls are typically deployed at the perimeter of a network and protect all devices behind them. 
• Application firewalls are deployed inline and can inspect and block traffic based on specific application-level criteria. 
• Host-based firewalls are installed on individual hosts and can protect those hosts from malicious traffic.
